What to expect in your third trimester
Third Trimester In your third trimester, you are finally in to the home stretch. During your third trimester of pregnancy, you no doubt will be experiencing a myriad of emotions. On one hand you will be excited, but on the other you no doubt will be scared. What else can you expect to experience during your third trimester of pregnancy? According to the experts at iVillage.com, the following will take place during your third trimester pregnancy:
- Your baby's lungs are now creating surfactant, a substance needed for breathing.
- Brain development is rapid.
- The eyes can now track movement and respond to light and dark.
- Your baby may move and sleep in more definable patterns.
- Your hip joints may soften, causing you to waddle.
- The uterus might throw your posture off, causing backaches.
- Your baby is gaining weight rapidly.
- You find yourself having to make a lot of decisions, such as: home birth, breastfeeding or bottle feeding?
- You may be worried about a decrease in baby activity. While this is normal, due to less room in the uterus, you might want to contact your doctor to double-check.
- Up until your third trimester pregnancy, your baby has been covered in fine hair, called Lanugo and a creamy substance that protects its skin, called Vernix. Both will begin to disappear.
- Fears about labor will set in.
- For most women, labor happens before the 42 week. If the womb environment becomes inadequate, the mother may be induced or a cesarean may be recommended.
It's a pretty exciting moment, after nine long months, to finally hold your baby in your arms. Congrats!
