Taking Fertility Drugs

Taking Fertility Drugs

Taking fertility drugs can often help women who have had trouble conceiving in the past. If you have been unable to conceive after 6 months or more of trying to get pregnant, you may consider getting a little fertility help. Fertility drugs are designed to correct specific hormonal imbalances which can make fertility and pregnancy difficult to nearly impossible.

Common Fertility Help Methods

While natural fertility help such as herbal remedies and calculating ovulation can help achieve fertility and pregnancy, natural fertility help sometimes is just not enough. Many women taking fertility drugs find that they become pregnant within the first few months of their regimen. The most common fertility drugs are gonadotropins such as Repronex, Follistim, Bravelle, and Gonal-F. There is also clomiphene citrate, also known as Clomid or Serophene. Taking fertility drugs stimulates the production of mature eggs and induces ovulation. Most fertility drugs contain the human hormones required for successful ovulation and conception, such as progesterone and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone).

Taking fertility drugs may cause a variety of side effects, so it’s important to discuss all the options with your doctor or health care provider before embarking on a course of chemical fertility help. Remember, natural fertility help is available and sometimes all your fertility and pregnancy goals need is a little push in the right direction. Limiting caffeine intake, reducing stress and, for men, wearing loose-fitting underwear to encourage higher sperm counts may be the only natural fertility help you need to get pregnant.
