Questions to ask your doctor before you get pregnant
Preparing for Pregnancy While pregnancy planning, it's a wise idea to make an appointment with your doctor to get the necessary pregnancy information you need for a healthy, happy pregnancy. When you visit your doctor to talk pregnancy planning, you should have a complete physical exam as well as a pap smear. In addition, you should talk to your doctor about the following pregnancy information:

- Information your doctor of your medical history. He or she will want to know if you have had any of the following diseases or conditions:
- diabetes
- hyperthyroidism
- hypothyroidism
- asthma
- high blood pressure
- epilepsy
- lupus
- herpes
- heart disease
- sickle cell trait or disease
- urinary tract infections
- deep vein thrombosis
- kidney disease
- arthritis
- cancer
- hepatitis.
- Tell the doctor what kind of prescription drugs, if any, you are currently taking.
- Information on any past pregnancies or gyno problems will also help your doctor predict potential problems during pregnancy or conception.
- Do you have any STD's? Certain STD's can affect your baby your ability to get pregnant.
- What's your family's medical history?
- Are you currently living a healthy lifestyle? This includes exercise and lifestyle.
