Organize Baby Closets

Organizing Overstuffed Drawers

Avoid overstuffed drawers and closets. Only clothes to be worn in the next few weeks belong in these sacred places. Every 90 days, go through all your baby's closets and drawers and touch (inventory) each item. If it's too small, out of season or isn't getting worn for whatever reason, it goes into a cheap but effective plastic storage box. Categorize clothes by size first, then season, then type. You'll probably fit an entire wardrobe into one box, (which you'll label on the outside with marker and duct tape) "18-24 Months/Summer."

A year from now you'll easily be able to sort through the wardrobe (and the memories) pulling out the precious few items good for another go-'round, and sorting the rest for sale or giveaway. Special items of infant clothes or baby clothes - such as christening gowns, first birthday party outfit, Disneyland T-shirt, go in the box marked "Keepsakes." Sort future outfits you pick up at sales or as received hand-me-downs the same way.
