How to Relieve Pregnancy Back Pains
Are you suffering from pregnancy back pain? Unfortunately, pregnancy back pain is a common problem. There are a number of reasons for pregnancy back pains, some of which include:
- Pregnancy hormones soften ligaments; causing joint pain
- Posture problems caused by an expanding uterus
- The position of the baby
The good news is... you don't have to put up with pregnancy back pains. There are a number of things you can do help relieve lower back pregnancy pain or get rid of it altogether.
- Maintain good posture at all times. Slouching only makes lower back pregnancy pain worse.
- Exercise is key! A 30 minute walk a day can go a long way. Plus, strong abs can reduce back pain significantly. Ask your doctor or midwife to suggest some safe exercises for you to do.
- Don't forget to get plenty of rest. Rest has wonderful healing and rejuvenating powers. Also, when sleeping, try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs. This will make sure your back is aligned properly.
- If you have a young toddler already, make sure you are lifting him or her correctly. Instead of kneeling down, sit down first and get your child to climb on your lap.
- Be careful when you are doing housework. Don't over-extend or overstrain yourself.
- Hot or cold packs can also provide back pain relief.
