How Fertility Drugs Help
Fertility Drugs Help for Men and Women
Fertility drugs and fertility help come in many varieties, including prescription pharmaceuticals and natural fertility help remedies or menstrual cycle calculations. If fertility and pregnancy are your goals, it is important to choose the right fertility drugs or fertility help methods as soon as you become interested in trying to get pregnant.
One of the most frequently prescribed fertility drugs is Clomiphene, also sold under the brand name Serophene and often referred to by its other brand name, Clomid. Commonly prescribed to women with ovulation problems, Clomid is an inexpensive and popular type of fertility help. The way Clomid works is by helping to regulate or induce ovulation. It also encourages egg maturation in the ovaries. Taken orally in pill form during days 3 to 5 or 5 to 9 of a woman’s menstrual cycle, Clomid thus regulates ovulation by sending a message to the pituitary gland encouraging it to begin or to increase production of FSH and LH (two types of hormones). Once the level of hormones increases, the ovaries begin maturing eggs. Higher levels of FSH and LH in a woman’s body mean increased egg production, improved ovulation and a greater chance of getting pregnant. Gonadotropins (Repronex, Gonal-f, Follistim and Bravelle) are other commonly prescribed fertility drugs that are used to stimulate the production of mature eggs.
