Activities for my Toddler
Toddler Activities
Not all toddler activities need to be toddler learning activities. Sometimes the pure joy of play is all your child needs to relax after a stressful day of challenges or learning experiences. Remember that children can get stressed out, too, whether because they sense your anxiety over work or the messes they’ve made, or they’re going through the painful teething process or simply adjusting to being in daycare and away from mom. In order to foster a bond between parents and children, to reassure them after anxious moments, or to distract them from pain, try these simple ideas for toddler activities that can be used at home or away.
Activities for Toddler
The butterfly game, similar to “Duck, Duck, Goose” can be played with a group of children. Either you or one of the children will be the butterfly, and the rest can sit in a circle. The butterfly then walks around the outside of the circle waving arms like a butterfly. You can invent a rhyme for when the butterfly will land on someone, or you can use this one:
One little butterfly far, far away Once upon a time on a warm summer day, Flew so high in the sky so blue, From up in the sky, it landed on you.
You can also play the the choo-choo train game, one of the most popular and well known toddler activities. Simply put a baby on your knees and bounce him or her gently, repeating words like, “Choo, choo!” For older toddlers, you can put them on your shoulders and walk or run around the house repeating those or similar train noises. There are many games for toddler boys and girls, some of which you can do anywhere at any time, like the choo-choo game or peek-a-boo and others.
